Rushmere & Diamonds 1 - 6 Bucklesham

Following last week’s impressive performance,  Bucklesham F.C. sponsored by Edge Consult carried on where they left off the previous week and took the game to their opponents.  This time it was Bucks’ turn to score within the first 2 minutes when after an excellent passing move the crossed ball found itself all the way through to the onrushing Ashley Goodchild who swept the ball home with some panache.

Bucks doubled their lead after 22 minutes when a well-placed cross from Jack Green found Liam Algar’s head and the ball was steered into the bottom corner.

Shortly before half time Algar doubled his tally with a very well taken shot placed in the corner out of the keeper’s reach.

Bucks continued to dominate the play in the second half but found the Rushmere centre back in superb form, cutting out attack after attack. The onslaught continued as Kieran Blagden came off the bench to terrorise the Rushmere defence and score two excellent goals, and Goodchild doubled his tally with a similar goal to his first.

The only tarnish on another good Bucks’ performance was a late goal from Rushmere that Jack Small got a hand to, but just failed to stop the ball creeping in at the far post.

Man of the match was Chris Plummer for his excellent defensive work.

This puts Bucks top of the league. Very early in the season but if the team can continue to play with this level of good football, work rate and confidence we can look forward to a fruitful season.
