About Us

The council was formed on 20th July 1967 to:

Provide adequate recreational facilities, playing fields, playgrounds, community centres and other amenities of a similar character for the benefit of the community residing in Bucklesham, Foxhall and the neighbourhood in the interest of social welfare and with the object of advancing education, furthering health, relieving poverty, distress or sickness or in pursuing any objects which now or hereafter may be deemed in law to be charitable by improving the conditions of the life of the persons for whom the facilities are primarily intended.

In 1999 the Community Council was short of members and the Parish Council asked the New Millennium Committee (which had been formed to organise Millennium events) if they would take over the Community Council so that it would retain charitable status.
